Dan O'Neill was sent to New York in the summer of 1980 by a board member of High Times to "straighten out a mess". This from Dan, uncorroborated. He commmissioned this cover from me and then barricaded himself behind a mattress in my loft, saying the problems at the magazine were more intense than he figured. I threw a fit and suggested he go back to San Francisco. I did get a decent kill fee and this pic has been on my wall ever since, which explains the fading. $750.
